Founder, operator, and former financial advisor bringing a story-first perspective to claims, customer experience, leadership, and the future of insurance.

Brent Williams is the Founder and CEO of Benekiva, an insurtech company focused on modernizing claims and servicing for life, annuity, and living benefits carriers. His path into insurtech began as a financial advisor after helping a client’s family through a claims process that took nine months to resolve. He spent the next three and a half years talking with claims and servicing professionals to understand why the process was so difficult before building a solution. Today, Brent brings that same curiosity and practical perspective to conversations about claims, customer experience, AI, leadership, and building around real problems.
Brent saw the promise of insurance from both sides. He spent years helping families prepare financially for the future, then saw what happened when one family waited nine months to receive benefits after a death. That experience changed the direction of his career and the way he thinks about claims.
Before building Benekiva, Brent spent three and a half years talking with 147 claims and servicing professionals. He kept asking why until the real problems became clear. His philosophy remains the same today: understand the pain first, then decide whether technology has a role in fixing it.
Brent believes the people closest to the work usually know where the friction is. Whether the conversation is about AI, claims modernization, or leadership, he starts with the people doing the job and asks what would actually make their work better.
Story-driven sessions on claims, leadership, innovation, and building around problems that matter.

Claims should not be treated as a back-office transaction. Brent makes the case that the claim is the moment the promise of insurance becomes real, and why it should be one of the best experiences a carrier delivers.

Executives see dashboards. Claims professionals may see three monitors, 18 applications, spreadsheets, workarounds, and rules that live in someone’s head. Brent challenges leaders to experience the process themselves before deciding what needs to change.

What happens when verified data, rules, automation, and connected systems know enough to act before a beneficiary starts filling out forms? Brent explores a future where some benefits can be delivered because the triggering event is already known.
Many organizations do not lack assessments, data, or good ideas. They struggle to move. Brent talks about the cost of waiting for perfect certainty and why sometimes the most valuable thing a leader can do is make the decision, learn, and keep moving.

Great technology does not start with a feature list. It starts with a problem people badly want solved. Drawing on the years of research behind Benekiva, Brent shares what founders, product teams, and insurance leaders can learn from asking better questions before they start building.

Building a company means making decisions without knowing exactly how they will turn out, changing course when the evidence demands it, and surrounding yourself with people willing to challenge you. Brent shares the leadership lessons, failures, difficult calls, and persistence behind building something meant to last.
